2026 AGM Recap

April 21, 2026 By Rachel Merrithew

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Annual General Meeting on March 23, 2026 at Grimross. It was great to connect, look back on the past year, and share what’s ahead for RVC.

2025 updates:
Across all of our networks we made some meaningful improvements:

  • MVP: upgrades to Bunkerama and refreshed trailhead signage
  • Woolastook: new machine-built trail, signage installs, and culvert repairs
  • Penniac: bridge replacements and upgrades, plus signage updates
  • Killarney: Although Killarney are city owned trails, we have continued to collaborate closely in relation to this project. 6.3 km of new trail, a skills park, and discussions around land user agreements have happened in 2025!

On top of that, our Monday night trail maintenance crew kept things running all season—brushing, clearing, and keeping trails in rideable shape across all of our trails.

Programming and events:
We ran another full season of programming:

  • Getting Ready to Ride: 5-session spring series (May–June) designed to build confidence and foundational skills for newer riders
  • Youth Skills Coaching: Supported by a Canada Cycling grant, focused on developing the next generation of riders in a fun, structured environment
  • Enduro Skills Sessions: Progression-based coaching for riders looking to improve speed, line choice, and technical descending
  • Women’s + Group Rides: Inclusive, social rides that created space for riders of all levels to connect and build confidence
  • Wooly 4 Race: One of our marquee events, bringing riders together for a fun, challenging day on the trails
  • Shredtoberfest Weekend: A mix of skills sessions, racing, and a member appreciation ride to close out the season
  • Global Fatbike Day: Community winter ride celebrating fat biking and keeping momentum through the colder months

Not without challenges.
The late-summer fire risk and woods closures limited access during a key part of the season, but we adapted and kept things moving where we could.

Overall, the club is in a strong place.
Membership remains solid, our volunteer base continues to show up, and we’re seeing steady growth across trails, programs, and events.

Looking ahead to 2026: we’re excited to keep building on this momentum. Priorities include continued collaboration and work with the City of Fredericton for the Killarney project, exploring opportunities at Crabbe Mountain, and expanding programming with support from grant funding. We have applied to Canada Cycling Funding to continue supporting no barrier entry to the sport of mountain biking for youth.

Huge thanks to our volunteers, sponsors, and members. RVC only works because people show up and contribute.

If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved, now’s a great time:

  • Join the RVC
  • Come out to a trail night
  • Get involved in a ride or event
  • Follow us on social media to keep up to date on our events and volunteer opportunities!

See you on the trails!

Winterbike Grooming Plan 2026

January 13, 2026 By Rachel Merrithew

Riders!

Your Winterbike membership supports trail grooming at several locations in the Fredericton area. Here’s our tentative plan for MVP, Islandview, and Woolastook.

Winter riding is one of the highlights of the season, and our grooming plan aims to keep as much terrain open as conditions allow. All winter grooming is fully dependent on snowfall, temperature, and trail conditions, and plans may shift accordingly throughout the season.

MVP

Our goal at MVP is to keep as much riding open as possible, snow permitting. If conditions cooperate, we plan to groom:

  • Main MVP network
  • Monkey Business
  • Pinball
  • Slash n Berm
  • D-Track Climb

Island View

Exact groomed trails at Island View will depend on snow depth and conditions.
In past seasons, this has included:

  • Snake
  • Intro
  • Hansel & Gretel
  • Power Line Loop

Trail selection may vary based on snowfall amounts. Please check for updates before heading out.

Woolastook

As with our other locations, Woolastook grooming plans also depend heavily on snowfall. Each winter looks a little different, and trail choices may shift based on conditions.
The aspiration is to groom Mammoth if we receive sufficient snow. Last season included:

  • Wooly Loop
  • Missing Link to the lookout
  • Split Rail
  • Bartlett’s Meadow

📣 Stay Updated

Conditions can change quickly. For the most up-to-date grooming information, closures, and ride-ready announcements, follow River Valley Cycling on Facebook.

Thank you to our volunteers and riders for your patience, flexibility, and support — winter riding only works because of this community!
