RVC succeeds on based on the tremendous support we receive from our volunteers and members. There are several ways to get involved.
Trail Maintenance and Construction
Trail days will be organized throughout the year to do maintenance on existing trails and add to and construct new trail systems. Days will be advertised in advance. A primary longer term goal of the club will be to develop a formal trail system that is beginner friendly.
About Trail Building
There’s more to building a trail than moving rocks and dirt. Trails are usually part of larger systems that are the result of careful and diligent planning and collaboration. These trail systems must serve the needs of multiple user groups and take environmental and geographical factors into account.
While land managers and other administrators are ultimately responsible for land planning processes, committed trail users and community groups have important roles to play as well. Planning is ultimately about the big picture, and that picture includes not only the forest and the trees, but also the entire trails community.
RVC would like to see all cyclists that use the trails participate in maintaining and building them. Trail days are social, so be sure to join the Mountain Bike Fredericton Facebook Group to see when days are posted/scheduled and join your fellow cyclists in improving our trail systems.
Course Marshalling and Event Assistance
We are always looking for help for the numerous events we put on throughout the year. Help set up and mark an mtb or road race course, marshall during the race, or man the BBQ after – there’s always something to do! If you’re new to the sport – be it mountain biking, road or cyclocross – helping out at an event is a great way to find out if entering in the future is something you’d like to do. If you’re looking to help out with an event, Let us know – we’d love to have you!
