The Getaway draw

We are pleased to announce our biggest fundraiser ever:  The Getaway Draw.

A $20 ticket will get you the chance to win a $5000 Travel Voucher from a local travel agency towards the vacation of your dreams… Or the choice of taking a cool $3,000 in cash instead of the trip. A maximum of 2000 tickets will be sold.

For a successful fundraiser, we need the help of all our members to sell tickets.  The funds raised will help us add to our existing trail system and improve what we already have. Tell your friends from away that payment can be made on the RVC website and a ticket will be generated and sent to the purchaser. Here’s full info and how to get involved.

Local Bike Shops Up the Ante!

As an incentive to reward the efforts of members selling paper tickets, Radical Edge and Savage’s Bicycle Center have made a pledge to RVC: for every 10 Getaway Draw tickets a member sells, their name will go into a draw for a $1000 gift certificate that can be redeemed at the Radical Edge or Savage’s – your choice.

Sell 20 tickets, get 2 ballots! Sell 80, get 8 ballots!!! There aren’t many members in this contest yet, so we need you to help sell, and your chances of winning are really good. Thanks to Radical Edge and Savage’s for your continued support!

RVC Summer Student Job Opportunities

Looking for a summer job, or do you know a post-secondary student looking for work? RVC plans to hire two full time students for this summer, for a minimum of 8 weeks. The work will be focused on trail building, and an interest in mountain biking is an asset. If you are interested please get in touch with us. Applicants must apply through the New Brunswick SEED program. Additional opportunities may be available. Note that all hiring is contingent upon funding approval.

2016 RVC Memberships

2016 memberships are now available on the RVC website, and this spring you’ll be able to scan the QR tag on membership signs on some of our trail systems using your smartphone. The new process is quick and simple, with no online processing fees. If you don’t want to pay by credit card or Paypal, shoot us an email to arrange alternate payment. Your $ goes directly towards trail building and maintenance!

2015 AGM in Brief

Our AGM was well attended on February 23rd, where members were updated on all the efforts and successes from the previous year, including: trail reports and plans, new initiatives, access at Island View and UNB woodlot trail systems, 2016 Summer Student program, expansion proposals for Woolastook, Minto, and MVP trail systems, race dates, kit orders, fundraising projects, community partnerships, sponsorship updates, RVC Winterbike presentation, and much more. Here are the meeting minutes.

Spring Riding

There’s some beautiful weather forecast and we’re all keen to get back on our bikes. But we that you keep in mind that riding when the trails are muddy causes erosion that takes a lot of work to fix. Please do your part to minimize trail damage by not riding when the trails can’t take it. If you leave ruts, don’t ride – that’s a good rule of thumb all year around. There’s not much snow left and the woods should dry out quickly, but in the meantime, if the trails are muddy, why not do some trail work or get some miles on a dirt road adventure ride?

Upcoming Events

Getaway Draw
RVC will be selling Getaway Draw tickets at Savage’s Bike Swap and Sale: April 15,16, & 17 at the Capital Exhibit Centre. The draw will be April 29 at Hampton Inn & Suites.

MVP Trail Day
Remsoft Inc. of Fredericton generously donated trail building funds to RVC for development of 2km more mini-X trail at the MVP trail system! We will be holding a volunteer trail day as soon as all the snow is gone to clear brush and make ready for the mini-X work to start once the ground dries up. Stay tuned for date and details on our Facebook page and website.

RVC Spring Kick-off
Once the warm weather dries out or trails and brings out the masses, we will be hosting a family and dog friendly trail day and BBQ to celebrate the new mountain biking season. Again, stay tuned for date, location and details on our Facebook page and website.
