The mission of River Valley Cycling (RVC) is to support mountain biking in Fredericton and the surrounding region. Our priorities:
• rider development & community through organized rides, skills training, races, and other programs;
• to build and maintain sustainable singletrack trail networks;
• to secure access for riders by building relationships with landowners and land managers
We are a non-profit organization that is completely volunteer run. RVC membership supports things like trail building efforts, liability insurance for landowner access, and costs associated with our events. We rely on riders with ideas and volunteer energy who want to make our community better and we provide them guidance and resources to help them achieve their goals.
Executive
Chris Norfolk: President
Chris provides overall leadership for the club to keep it growing and to keep activities aligned with our mission. He acts as a spokesperson representing members. He maintains the club’s web presence.
Mike Hutchinson: Vice Pres.
Mike contributes to maintaining private landowner relationships that maintain our access. He focuses his remaining time on the maintenance, development, and winter grooming of Woolastook.
Ian Groen: Treasurer
Ian keeps RVC’s books and makes sure our budget is balanced throughout the year. He works with our bank, and produces an annual report.
Norm Siebrasse: Secretary
Norm keeps the minutes at the exec meetings and he gets our mail. Beyond that though Norm is the corporate memory of the club having been here from the beginning. He builds a lot of trail too and keeps all of our tool inventory.
Melissa Bordage: Sponsorship Director
Melissa maintains our relationships with local businesses who support our club. She also organizes some of our most popular events and helps run our social.
Bev Bunker: Trails Director
Bev is RVC’s master of trails. He organizes volunteer trail maintenance efforts and new builds. He’s supervised our summer trail crew and he’s always involved in any of our trail design.
Chris Furlotte: Risk Management Director
Chris F. has the job of considering rider safety and club risk, particularly when we consider installing progressive built features. He also volunteers time coaching advanced skills and trail building.
Heather Ongo: Programming Director
Heather organizes RVC’s group rides throughout the four seasons and ensures that we have programming available to all levels of skill and for all interests. Heather coordinates skills development opportunities for members including coaching sessions. She helps run RVC’s social.
Rachel Garland: Women’s+ Director
Rachel’s interest is expanding RVC’s offerings to the women’s+ community and expand participation of women’s+ riders at our events.
Adam Hadley: Director at large
Adam spends much of his volunteer time with an interest in improving trails and trail access in Penniac (aka ‘the Hadley trails’).
RVC was incorporated as a non-profit company in the fall of 2010.
