Trail maintenance and construction

Trail days are organized throughout the year to maintain existing trails and help build new trail systems. Work may include clearing, repairs, drainage, shaping, signing, and improving sustainable singletrack for riders of different abilities.

There is more to building a trail than moving rocks and dirt. Trails are part of larger systems that require planning, collaboration, environmental care, and coordination with landowners, land managers, and other trail users.

RVC would like to see cyclists who use the trails participate in maintaining and improving them. Trail days are social, and they are usually announced in advance through local riding channels.

Course marshalling and event assistance

RVC often needs help with events, races, rides, clinics, and community activities. Volunteers can help set up, mark courses, marshal, welcome riders, clean up, help with food, or support organizers behind the scenes.

If you are new to mountain biking, road riding, cyclocross, or club events, volunteering is a good way to meet people and learn what it is like before entering an event yourself.

Share ideas and skills

RVC relies on riders with ideas and volunteer energy. If you have a project, program, ride idea, trail interest, coaching skill, event experience, or time to lend, the club can help connect you with the right people and resources.
